The Turning Point

This story is inspired from a real incident of a boy named ‘Mohit’.The story is continued in his words.

June 2012,It was my 3rd day in 12th std.I sat on the first bench.A professor entered and started with maths.Everyone was copying the formula from the blackboard except a boy who was sitting just next to me.He was not writing anything.“Why are you not taking down formula?” I asked. He replied,”I’m partially blind,I can’t see neither on the board nor in your notebook.” I left conversation & got busy in copying.

In recess,I started a conversation with him by asking,”How do you go home.”
He : My dad comes to pick me as and when needed.
I: It means, you don’t go outside alone in evening?
He: I go,I hold my mom’s finger when I go in the evening.
I: You’re very lucky!

He surprisingly asked,”How?” I replied with moist voice,”I forgot the pronunciation of ‘Mom’.I lost my mom in 2007.She died in LPG cylinder blast.I was in school that time. When I returned to the home,I got to see the dead body of my mom.I am grown up by my maternal uncle. My dad is a builder. He comes twice in a week to ask to abut my well-being.” I shared my pain with him and released burden. It was my first and last on the first bench.I shifted my place to 2nd last bench.

2 Months Later :

The first bencher boy met me on the ground while P.T. lectures were going. He asked me,”How’s your exam?” I tried to hide my pain with a fake smile and said,”I got failed in Maths.” He thought for few seconds and asked,”Have you told this to your dad?” I replied,”No,I will not tell.” He said,”Why?....Hiding a problem can never be a solution. You should tell this so that your dad will get a chance to prove that he’s the best dad in this world & he really cares about you. You’ll not achieve anything by hiding your marks from your dad.Because one day he’ll come to know that day will be too late for him to do anything for you.”

While returning to home from college,I was sunk in a deep thinking. He was right but I was worried about the consequences which I will face.Dad came to a visit in evening. He asked about my well-beings.I gathered my energy and I said,”Dad….I..I got failed in Maths,I don’t understand this subject.” I was sitting like guilty and looking at the floor.Dad replied,”your board exam will be after 8 months,We have enough time.Do you a class for maths?” I became happy with the positive response from my dad,I replied,”Yes”.

Next day,I met the first bencher boy with resplendent face and I said ‘Thanks’ to him.Because now,my relationship with my dad become stronger than it was.I studied hard and cleared board exams.I realized how sharing the problems with our good wishers can be the turning point in the life.
